An affair to remember…

Getting married and having a “happily ever after” existence has been this fictitious aim many people have had ever since they started watching Disney when they were kids.

Side thought: How much better did the Beast in “Beauty & the Beast” look as an animal rather than a human being? Talk about Disney giving a truly odd push into exploring beastiality. Then again, I’m probably the only one who thinks this and now it’s out there. I’m the person who mentioned beastiality on a blog. Oh dear….

So, back onto what I was writing about before that truly disturbing thought…

What we tend to forget when we do find the elusive ”one” is that little, iddy-biddy thing called…….

REALITY

Yep, I just killed the romance. I’m an official romance killer…

There’s nothing wrong with being swept up in the beauty of love. However, there are two things I think everyone should ask themselves while they’re skipping amoungst the daffodils, sighing, holding hands and what not:

1. How much do I have  in common with this person, apart from the obvious physical attraction?

2. Where do I want this relationship to go?

The majority of people have no idea what they want. This makes life “fun”. However, being the control freak that I am, I tend to think that relationships should be based on this mutual “where are we going?” understanding. From my experience, if they aren’t based on a stable mutual goal, you’re going to be truly disappointed.

It’s highly unlikely that women can change men. Unless you have a “Beast” that can magically transform into the perfect prince, you’re going to have to learn to love those irritating tendencies your significant other does that drive you crazy, (and I’m sure the list is long for many people).

Nobody’s perfect, not even Prince Charming…

Realistically, I think people need to find contentment in knowing that the person they choose to be with for the rest of their life is going to love them no matter what. Yes, life is about taking risks and feeling confident in yourself, but it’s also about discovering what’s right for you. Afterall, at the end of the day you’ve got to ask yourself,

What’s going to make me happy?”…

Peace,

- C
